What is Imagination Yoga?

Imagination Yoga (NZ) is super-fun yoga for kids ages 4-12 years!

We are based in Ōtautahi/Christchurch, Aotearoa/New Zealand

Our classes are a positive, calming, empowering space for Children to stretch their bodies and minds, learn the art of relaxation and make new friends.

Imagination Yoga (iY) connects children to their whole self (mental, emotional, physical, creative) through yoga, meditation and creative activities to uplift and enlighten. Mostly we have lots of crazy fun 😉

On a more serious note, we believe iY offers children essential life-skills for being their best in today’s dramatic world. Our priority is your child’s wellbeing now and down the track.

Imagination Yoga (iY) embraces the principles and protocols of the New Zealand Curriculum; nurturing children to be effective citizens by prioritising imagination, mindfulness, creativity and tools for wellbeing.  Hauora/Mauri Ora and Te Whare Tapa Whā (the Māori philosophy of health and wellbeing unique to Aotearoa) are integral to our programme; in focussing on hauora we foster an approach to wellbeing consisting of Taha Tinana (physical), Taha Hinengaro (emotional and mental), Taha Whanau (social) and Taha Wairua (spiritual wellbeing).

Our weekly CLASSES for 4-6 years and CLASSES for 7-12 years (held throughout the school year) encourage daily practice of self-care and an open, resourceful, pro-active, creative mind.

All children are respected and celebrated in their uniqueness.
We encouraging children to be true to themselves,  explore and pursue what interests them and deepen their sense of self and connectedness in the world

Our Junior Teacher-in Training Initiative (where kids teach iY to other kids) continues to be an exciting opportunity for our future leaders.
